RoseвЂ™s shift in personality is jarring compared to the main game - she was upbeat and had matured much through her journey with Sorey, but in AlishaвЂ™s Story, her secretive behavior leads to an antagonistic and cold attitude toward Alisha, with whom she originally shared a mutual respect. Because Alisha and Rose dominate, the Seraphim are sidelined, and their relationship isnвЂ™t as endearing as Sorey and MikleoвЂ™s is. The rest of the characters suffer slightly, too. ItвЂ™s ultimately her lack of airtime in the bulk of Zestiria that causes this problem, as it leaves AlishaвЂ™s Story very little to work with. ItвЂ™s not the pay-off fans wanted, and she pales in comparison to previous Tales Princesses like Estelle and Natalia. Alisha gets much of the limelight in this episode and does mature over the course of the journey from a naive Princess to a focused and determined one through cutscenes, but her character is far less enticing than the rest of the cast, with her role often being reduced to the hapless heroine, especially at the end. The extra story feels tacked on to the main plot, and although its main intention is to allow Alisha to shine, it doesnвЂ™t fully achieve that goal either. Alisha is reunited with Rose after a sudden encounter with malevolence, notices that Sorey is not present, and embarks on a quest to discover the truth behind SoreyвЂ™s absence and attempt to reunite with him. The story follows shortly after the end of the main game.

As Alisha was robbed of a satisfying arc, I hoped that at the minimum AlishaвЂ™s Story would build upon her character and flesh her out beyond the naive and duty-bound princess, but the Tales seriesвЂ™ first story-driven downloadable content falls short of expectation.

To compensate for their disappointment, Bandai Namco released AlishaвЂ™s Story for free for a limited time, an additional chapter that would explain what happened to Alisha after the end of the game. Her quick and sudden departure from the party was poorly handled in-game, and given Bandai NamcoвЂ™s heavy marketing campaign for her character, fan backlash was huge. Whether it is or would become more than just very good friends doesn't change the fact that they are so close regardless.ItвЂ™s difficult to ignore the controversy that surrounded Alisha back when Tales of Zestiria released in Japan. Sorey and Mikleo share a very close bond. Okay, that was rather long-winded about GW2, but the situation reminds me of it. He outright panicked in the book Edge of Destiny when Logan left Destiny's Edge behind to rush to the queen before a particularly disastrous battle. To a charr a warband is closer together than even lovers, so all of Rytlock's rather obvious jealousy of Logan's attraction to Queen Jennah would make the exact same sense regardless of if Rytlock has (or had) such an attraction to Logan.

The two were very close and Rytlock invited Logan to his warband. It reminds me of in Guild Wars 2 there's the question of if Rytlock has/had feelings for Logan. In the end it doesn't matter at all to the game's plot in my opinion. On GameFAQs people kept saying the developers said stuff hinting that the two were headed in that direction, and that they said Sorey would neither hook up with Rose nor Alisha, but I never see any direct quotes of where that was said. I thought they were just friends personally.
